Obstetrician of the Year
My nomination for this award is Dr Trevour Hayes of St Lukes, Kilkenny. On the 25th of July, 2008, Trevour successful delivered our triplets safe and well, and all within the space of five minutes. Throughout the pregnancy, which was a bit daunting at times, Trevour was always at the other end of the phone for reassurance. Nothing was ever too much - I could ring his office any morning with my concerns and he would see me straight away.
On the day of the delivery, he was so calm and relaxed and, although I was nervous - even though I already had two children, Trevour did a great job of keeping both my husband and I relaxed and calm. He had a great team on hand and everything was very calm and organised, considering our trio arrived unexpectedly at 34 weeks and five days and were the first triplets to be born in Kilkenny hospital for 30 years or more. That didn't frazzle Trevour - he got on with the job in hand and the outcome was just fantastic for everyone - three healthy babies: two boys and a girl.
It wouldn't have been possible without Trevour and I think he should be recognised for the fantastic work he does above and beyond the call of duty.
