Paediatrician of the Year
Dr George Philip has his practice at the Bon Secour Hospital, Tralee. We first met him when our eldest daughter Emma was ten-months-old (December 2006). At that time, we had not had a full night’s sleep or a day without walking the floors trying to stop her crying and were slowly going mad. Dr Philip is equally concerned about the welfare of parents and children and at that time he played such an important role in our lives, reassuring us and guiding us … leading us to have a second baby girl, Laura, twelve months later. She too had problems with formula and reflux but it was all sorted within five weeks of her birth and she has slept soundly since.
The way he interacts with children is so lovely to see. If one of the children is unwell, he will see us within two hours. In August 2009, Laura fell face first onto patio bricks after six in the evening. I called his office number just to see if he was on call in case she needed to be admitted through South Doc and it transferred straight to him. He was happy to speak to me and asked me to call him back in an hour to let him know she was still okay. All the parents I know who attend him have the highest regard for him, as I do. When my brother and his family came to visit, their daughter Phoebe had a very bad cough. I rang Dr Philip who saw her straight away and she ended up being admitted to hospital. Her parents were amazed at the service he provides.
I could keep writing about the fantastic person he is and what he has done for us but, in short, he is our life saviour.
