Childcare in Ireland has grown considerably over the last 10 years, affording parents a wide range of options to choose from. The aim of the awards is to recognise standards, excellence and best practise throughout. Thanks to everyone that voted for their favorite creche this year in our three creche categories, and a big thank you to our Creche Adjudicators, SafeHands Health & Safety Solutions, and Canavan & Byrne. We offer you, the parent the opportunity to vote for your child’s crèche in each of the 3 categories. The top 3 in each category with the most votes, automatically makes the final.
From here, our appointed specialists, CanavanByrne and Safehands will carry out a visit of each crèche to carry out an independent audit, covering health & safety, adult/child engagement, curriculum delivery and initiatives, partnership with parents, policies and procedures, food and nutrition and equality & diversity. How the service has responded to quality initiatives such as Aistear and Siolta will also be considered.

Mary Byrne and Angela Canavan have specialised in providing management services to the early years sector for over 10 years Along with providing an advisory service to childcare providers throughout the country they also operate a childcare training company. |
They are the author of many publications related to the sector including Child Development and Communication & Information Technology,Towards Quality Daycare: Minimum Standards in a Nursery. The most recent publication is “Human Resource Management in the Early Years Sector (2011)” Canavan Byrne carry out operational quality audits for public bodies including the civil service crèches and the European Commission Creche.
SafeHands Health & Safety Solutions
SafeHands Health & Safety Solutions is a health and safety consultancy company. Our mission is to provide cost effective health and safety solutions and training for our clients. Our services include preparation of Safety Statements, Site Specific Risk Assessments, and Fire Extinguisher Service. Our training courses include FETAC Occupational First Aid Training, Manual Handling/Lifting and Carrying Courses, Fire Safety Training, Food Safety/HACCP Training , HACCP Implementation and Food Safety Audits.
