Haiti Week was officially launched in Dublin on October 9th 2011 by President Bill Clinton. It will take place between the 21st and 28th of January during which time fundraising events and activities will take place throughout Ireland.
January 2012 marks the second anniversary of the devastating earthquake which killed over 300,000 people and displaced more than 1.6 million from their homes.
The aim of Haiti Week is to raise awareness of the ongoing struggles in Haiti and to raise funds to help the victims. Unfortunately there are still over 600,000 people living in tents and make shift dwellings in Haiti. Hopefully we can make a difference by supporting Haiti Week and taking part in the many events being run throughout the country.
